MITACS and CORS are excited to announce the MITACS / CORS 2010 Annual Conference, to be held at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.  This event will bring the top academics in the mathematical sciences and operational research together to explore advances and share research results.

This event aims to bring together partner organizations in the academic, public, private and not-for-profit sectors with university researchers to generate solutions. This Annual Conference is your opportunity to listen to top speakers, network with researchers in the mathematical sciences and in operational research, showcase your research by presenting a poster, and socialize with your peers at a national level.

Plenary Speakers:

Professor John D. C. Little - Winner of the 2010 CORS Harold Larnder Prize

Professor Nando de Freitas - First recipient of the MITACS Young Researcher Award

Professor Jeffrey D. Ullman - Professor Emeritus, Computer Science, Stanford University

May 25-May 28, 2010

Shaw Conference Centre, Edmonton, Alberta

This year's conference will  be a joint meeting between MITACS and CORS, with the goal of featuring the five thematic areas of MITACS research, along with the diverse range of topics that fall under the umbrella of operational research.

Since 1999, MITACS has played a leadership role in linking businesses, government, and not-for-profits with over 50 of Canada's universities to develop cutting-edge tools to support the growth of our knowledge-based economy.  Through the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) program, MITACS funds mathematical sciences research projects throughout the country.

CORS, which has been in existence since 1958, is a scientific and professional society that takes a leadership role in the advancement of both the theory and the practice of Operational Research (OR) in Canada and safeguards the existence of a vital Canadian OR community by promoting contact between people interested in the subject.

Make Your Research Count! : Poster & Demo Exhibits
An exhibition featuring posters and demonstrations by university students, research associates and faculty highlighting their recent work and research results will be prominent during the conference. Awards will be presented for the top posters. You must be registered and attend the conference in order to qualify for the prizes.

MITACS strongly encourages the participation of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the Annual Conference. To this end, we have set aside a large number of travel subsidies (covering airfare and dorm style accommodation) that are available to graduate students who are presenting a poster, delivering a talk, or volunteering at the conference. You must register early to qualify.

Student Day
Tuesday, May 25 will be Student Day, dedicated to special student sessions (including the increasingly popular MITACS STEP sessions).
